I've been trying to locate a WWI mess kit with utensils. I'm kickin' myself, as I passed up one at a flea market for $25.00. I have one knife and spoon. My recent find were two brand new WWI patches for the Signal Corps, which my grandad served in. They were never used, and are stitched together at one point.

You misunderstood. I passed it up as was on my way on a trip. Kickin' myself, for not grabbing it! Was $25.00 for the kit with the utensils included. I was trying to hagle down to 20 bucks, but he wouldn't budge, and I had to leave. Moral: Never pass up a good deal, lol!

PS: The kit was stamped with the date as well as the utensils. As I recall they were 1918 or 1919.

Somewhere I have a WWI Spoon and Knife. Will post later. In the meantime, my latest find was a pair of brand new WW I Signal Corps patches, still sewn together. (Can't seem to find out how to upload an image, but working on it, lol)!

Ah ok. Don't be sorry, they are not rare, I got my box for 2 euros and the knife, spoon and fork for 5 each , so with the conversion, you'd get about 20$ , so 25 was actually a bit expensive.

Some nice photos: Mölders, and his dog+tail of the plane. Marseille walking perhaps in his home town with HJ youth watching with admiration. Sepp Dietrich big pic plus signature.

I also got a strange looking wound badge so I'm wondering if it's legit.

It looks alright to me from the front.
    Reverse is rather strange.

The closer look of this strange marking or something.
It's also thick which is also strange.

I hope you guys know more about this.

    EDIT:

    Additional info:

    -it weighs 67 grams
    -4,5mm thick
    -dimensions: 33x40mm

From what I can see in your photos it looks to be a very rough cast copy of a German wound badge. The Mark on the back could be where a pin was once attached by partially sinking it in to the molten metal during manufacture.

Thanks for the info. I got it for around 5€ so it's not a big damage.

Nice bit of history. I was out of town this weekend and missed out on a really nice pair of 1st Sergeant stripes from WWI. (My grandfathers rank). Down the road sometime, may collect a couple of Nazi SS badges, just to show the other side of things. Anyway just wanted to say enjoyed your new addition.

    Sgt. Mac ;)
