From what I know of the book, as I haven't read it though it's on my "to read" booklist, it's an exhaustive study of the origins and operation of the camps. Reviews are positive from what I have read. It was only released last year so who knows if it will stand up to the test of time. In my experience, if you care :), is that reading about the Holocaust is a very emotional and gut wrenching experience but it is very important.
