    Hey guys,

I was reading a morning report showing a transfer from the Armored Replacement Training Center in 1944 to a tank battalion. The MOS reads "2610SS" which I've never seen before. Any ideas?

    Thanks!
    James

Do you have a copy of the report you can post?

I'll try to get a scan but if I can't, I'll type out the complete wording of the entry, thanks!

Actually I thought the 2 and SS were extraneous and associated with something else since 610 is anti-tank gun crewman, which would fit in with being transferred to a tank battalion.

SSN2610 was replaced by SSN1736 Light Tank Crewman in the 12 Jul 44 revision of TM12-427. Looking at the Nov 44 rev of T/O&E 17-17 shows all EM crew members in the platoon as SSN1736 (19 - that's everybody except the platoon commander).
