    Hello guys !

My name is Jean-Baptiste, I'm 33, living close to Le Havre (only 2h for being on D-Day Beaches), two children.

I wonder you'll forgive my english, I don't use any translator...

Anyway : I collect WW2 items since I was 11 and a half. Both my Grand-Father were close concerning with the war. One was in the SOE and prepared with the FFI the Battle for Le Havre (my mum's father). He passed away at 92 ten years ago. He wrote a book called "Toute la bataille du Havre sur un char Anglais" because he was the only one french civilian loaded in a Sherman during the battle. Pierre Varrès...

The other one (Pierre Beaussart) is 90, still alive, and was in the Red Cross in Le Havre during the war... He's friend with Bernard Paumier, who served in the 392nd Engineer General Services even if he was French. He was interpreter. Still alive too, 90 also...

Pierre Beaussart had a sister that married with 1st Lieutnant Gilbert F Moore, 505th Engineer Light Ponton Compagny...

I met him once, while I was a child... But last week, I met one of his grand-grand daughter...

Anyway, you will understand that military historie is a major part of my life.

I collect anything about the 2nd IDUS Indian Head Division with one only wish : open a museum only dedicated to this Division, possible to be located in Formigny or Trevieres... But it so hard !!!!!

It will be a great pleasure for me to read Veterans souvenirs, see photos or uniforms...

If you could help to understand the point of view of the human being in the Indian Head, it will give me happiness.

    Sincerly yours,

    Jean-Baptiste.

Welcome Jean-Baptiste! You have such a cool area of interest and I wish you all the best with the museum. Maybe one day I will visit it. ;)

Welcome to the Forum, Jean-Baptiste. If you are interested in the personal stories, you may want to try the Veterans History Project. I have not found their search function to be very precise, so your search will probably include veterans from units other than the 2nd Division. Be sure to select "Yes" under Digitized Collection so that you will get results with online content.

I've been searching off and on through that one for some years now. It all started when I was looking 712th Tank Battalion veteran interviews.

    Hello guys.

First of all, I wanted tu share how sad I am : new attacks in France, in Nice, south of the country... I'm still waiting for news of my mum'friends living in Nice. In english, "nice" means cute, charming... But today, it is not...

However, thank you so much for all those messages.

One thing is sure : I'll try my best to find what I'm searching for, I mean personnal memories about Indian Head guys. Thanks so much for the links.

    See you,

    Jean-Baptiste.

    Hello CAC.

We were Résistants during the WW2, I'm afraid that we are once again...
