    Because of the "Max. single file" rule, I'll make two posts. (I understand about the rule; no complaints here. Just an explanation for posting twice.)

    My Dad brought this back from the Pacific. I've been curious about the Japanese text for some time. Anyone able to translate it?

    Maybe join a Japanese language forum & ask for help. Though they may be a bit touchy about WW2 stuff but better to ask & get a no rather than not ask at all.

    Maybe there is local college or institute that teaches Japanese lessons. I did this for translation of a Russian document a few years back. Mind you I live in Chicago and there were multiple options for this, you might not have this opportunity, especially for Japanese.

    OP, I think thats what mtds is trying to determine. It looks like a leaflet that might be dropped by the US to influence the Japanese. There is nothing about the image that seems to indicate nationalism, or anything pro Nippon. It could be produced by the Japanese, but it looks like a US printed item. A translation will of course confirm.

    j-aircraft has some Japanese speakers there are also online translators but ....

    Description A propaganda leaflet produced by the Far Eastern Liaison Office (FELO) during the Second World War. This leaflet is written in Japanese and is accompanied by an English translation of the text. The leaflet includes an illustration of a large bomb with a message warning that Allied Forces will continue to drop bombs until the Japanese people realise the futility of the war. This leaflet was reprinted in 1945 and this is one of the subsequent leaflets produced.

    Not US printed, but Allied printed. For all the times I keep my mind open about the Allies I fell into the US centric trap again.

    Whats unteresring is Ive seen that leaflet previously, ten years or so ago. I used the bomb image in a version of the WW2F logo I made. Ill see if I can dig it up.

    It appears that I mis-read the first document and thought that my leaflet was "2013". Owen's material from the Australian War Memorial site makes it clear that this is leaflet J164. Thank you all for your courtesy and your attention to a newbie's question! The AWM site shows a "Date Made" of 1944, which fits my father's time in that area (eastern New Guinea and New Britain).

    That would certainly pre-date Truman.
