German troops run for cover as a US Army Air Force P-38 reconnaissance aircraft makes a low photographic pass over the Normandy beaches on May 6, 1944. The troops appear to be working on new Hemmbalk obstructions to reinforce the weaker wooden stakes seen to the right.

Great photo and a good excuse to post a pic of the beautiful P-38 Lightning.

Clarence L. Johnson lived in this world from 1910 to 1990. His friends called him Kelly. He designed many of the most advanced aircraft of our time whilst working for Lockheed. Included amongst these is the P-38 Lightning which so inspired the Cadillac design team.
