Lord of the Rings & King Kong Director - Peter Jackson is to remake the classic 1954 film The Dam Busters. He is said to have loved watching it as a child. He wants to get as close to the original as possible with as much authenticity and closeness to actual events as he can. Apparently when the original was made a lot of the secrets about the weapon and the actual mission were still classified and the Film's makers even had to make up a fictional bomb. It starred Richard Todd as Wing Commander Guy Gibson & Michael Redgrave as Barnes Wallace. Filming is scheduled to start in 2008. I'll be first in the queue. One of my all time favourites :thumb:
I've just managed to get hold of the original from Amazon in a 3 Film Box Set which also includes "The Cruel Sea" another classic :thumb:
I have to agree with you S/Fire i have seen the old war films umpteen times and could still watch them all again ... Why is this. i:
Dambusters is a great, feelgood, WW2 film. I hope Peter Jackson does it justice in the remake, especially now the REAL events are known:thumb:And WETA are excellent so it should look great as well
I also think/hope we're safe with Jackson. Shockingly, we damned near got Mel Gibson ! Imagine Mel Gibson as Guy Gibson....:shudder: 'Found this on a movie page: lol !
Yes I saw that Mel Gibson had bought the rights to the original. If King Kong is anything to go by then we should be in for a treat.
