Imperial Japanese Navy paratroopers required a lightweight radio, but these were not available for the 1942 Dutch East Indies operations. Late that year this experimental set was developed; it did not see use in paratroop operations, but may have been employed by other SNLFs. It measures 8 ½ x 8 x 2 ¾ in, and is painted dark green with white markings.
