Hi, was recommended to you by a young fellah who I am on another forum with. Mom was a LT.JG in the Navy, WWII, Grandpa was a Captain in WWI and Colonel in WWII. I take it this deals only with WWII? My Cousin was the Cadet Colonel of the Citadel and won the first Douglas MacArthur Award ever given. He also retired as a General. Going to try to post a pic of my Mom with her command in the Bronx.

Thank you Keith and that's a great shot of the WACs and your mom ;-)) :thumb: My Grandmother on my Dads side was also in the Wacs. She was a female version of a Warrant Officer. Im not clear if they at the time--used the same rankings as the Men did? I dont have any photos of her in uniform because all that was stolen from the house around 20 years ago--along with my Dads WWII and Korean War pics.

I might be able to call today as im at DQ again and the radio they play isnt on as loud as yesterday. If I dont today? its just because I dont want my brain to explode from learning too much too soon :lol: Im going to try to practice and see if I cna get the rest of those images that we got yesterday--will be in another photo-bucket thread?

 

Hi Stalin, Yes, that is my Mother.....Lt.JG Marianna Hawkes. Dad could not enlist because he was deaf. But, as soon as he got his architectural degree at Clemson, he went to work for Curtis Wright developing planes. We know of 4 that he worked on. He was responsible for parts of the structure of the planes. We call those planes his War Models. Here are pictures of the ones he worked on. Oops, will have to check your picture stats....have to resize these, I think. So, here if one of Mom in her uniform.

Well, that seems to be too large also....hmmm, not that big. Well, I will make them smaller.....wonder why it took the one on the parade ground? We will see. HAGO, KEITH

Hi Keith, I wasnt able to yesterday. I spent most of it at the local flea market trying to get the WWII British Artillery Shell casing and WWII American 20MM Shell I had been paying on for awhile. Finally got back home before getting sick from not eating anything and then came to just relax a bit at Dairly Queen before going back home to watch a season 3 episode of: The Walking Dead. Then my neighbor wanted to sit outside and chat till the Cows came home ;-))

Today--a big effort. I didnt sleep well, then got up about 9AM--got ready to take 2 buses to go do early voting. While walking to the nearest bus stop-it started pouring rain so I got nearly soaked. Then the first bus I got on--having a wet floor--well, the driver took off just after I used my ticket and I wasnt seated yet--so I fell on the slippery floor when he gunned the gas pedal. I hit my head on the floor and may have hurt my left hip--which is all I need. I finally got to the Courthouse and was surprised at the long lines of people waiting to vote early. I was in line from 9:30AM till 2PM. By the time I finally voted, I was hurting and couldnt wait to get home to take a pain pill. I got here late after visiting Duke Wayne awhile. Im going to wait a day or two before trying to get taught more stuff for fear my brain will explode form all the new info ;-))

I will call you Tuesday to ask you a few things and just to chatter ;-))
