In addition to the RAF Bomber Command Memorial at Green Park (about time too) the government and The Queen have finally decided to award the Bomber Command Clasp to the 1939-45 Star.

The "Bomber Command" Clasp is similar in design to the “Battle of Britain” clasp. This is not the commemorative medal which is available from some sites on the internet, the clasp is official.

The application form can be downloaded from:
Eligible veterans and next of kin are now encouraged to apply for the new awards and details, including an application form, can be found at Veterans-UK or by telephoning the MOD Medal Office on 08457 800 900 (a local rate number).

Its a pity you have to do this today Pat, these were warented 70 odd years ago.

Good luck with your quest, a medal well deserved by your Father and his comrades for sure ... :thumb:

Yes mate it's a bit late that's for sure. What a shame Dad passed away last summer and he couldn't have got it himself.
I have got his air gunners log book and his later pilots log along with some excellent photos of him from WW2 which I will share when I get time,I hope the above explains why I've not been around that much recently, cheers,Pat.

Sorry to hear about the sad loss of your Father, i know how proud you were of him, and rightly so my friend.
