I would like to see, by respected request, a translation of the German language lirics, for the Panzer Anthem. Please.
My German is rusty (never that good anyways) but I memorized this song long ago......... English translation Panzer Lied (Tank Song) If there's storm or it snows, Or the sun smiles on us, The day is burning hot, Or the night icy cold. Dusty are the faces, But joyful is our mind, Joyful our mind; Our tank roars ahead Within the storm wind.
Really good SgtBob. Though I would render "Sinn" as "spirit" rather than "mind", because it's really about morale there.
post subject have a look at the following web site, youwill find just about all the "panzer" songs ever written. < http://ingeb.org/home.html >
post subject go to above site, click on WW2 scroll down to Panzerlied, there are five verses with translations.
post subject Well thank you Roel, have a look at "Unser Rommel" and other Panzer songs, and for what it is worth I fronted a German Bierkeller Umpah Band! until my 76th birthday!! Prosit! My german grammar is not too hot but I know how to order Bier from the barrel! Having said that, my English grammar is not too hot either! Do have a look at that web site. Incidentally I do know a few Army/rugger/navy/RAF/ Nurses/NAAFI/German/songs etc.!!
post subject GP said something like "not the best army songs", as I have books, song- sheets, tapes of these going back to ww1 I would appreciate some first lines to add to my collection, if I do not have them.Must warn you though, am still returning to OCA and Regimental reunions where they manage to dig a few up.Looking forward to them GP.
Re: post subject Most of the ones I know you will too but they are not on the site such as those too.
