    isn't the answer to this question that thorin got a ring from his father and thangodorim is an alternative name for the father, how had the lonely mountain.. so silmaril means ring and thangodorim is alternative name so the answer is in fact thorin if i have the names correctly..

    wrong on the hole story? to bad i thought it sounded logical :p

    what is a silmaril..? that is the big question..
    why don't i have the lord of the rings books in Englisch :S

    O.K.

    As you may have guessed, the character concerned is from history, and not from the war of the ring itself. But the account of the tale is contained within the Two Towers. It also appears in greater detail in another Middle Earth work.

    Not much of a clue, I know. But it may cut down on fruitless guesswork, and will give you a pointer for reference or research.

    I did say that it was time for a hard one, but I did not want it to be impossibly or dicouragingly hard.
