    Thank you.
Nice of you to overlook that whole rebellion thing, it wasn't anything personal :D :D

    Thanks!

I ate well at dinner, and I have a nice plate full of food in my lunchbag at work! ;)

Something that I have wondered is do you have another mega turkey fest for Christmas? I'm not sure that I would enjoy the Christmas one so much if I had eaten the same stuff just a month before.

Quite often, yes, there's turkey at Christmas as well. Maybe not as much (smaller bird!), but there will often be a good ham as well. A lot depends on where dinner is, and how many are expected. As my family all lives on the east coast, the only relatives around here would be my brother-in-law and his wife.

Now, when I was growing up, there were usually seven of the siblings from my Mom's clan, with their children (19!) gathered for chow. Naturally, there was a considerable selection on that table!!!

I never have Turky at Christmas, though we do traditionaly get a good cooked meal.

Last year I got some Del Taco for my Christmas feast.

Well, Thanksgiving pre-dates the rebellion, so it's technically a British festival... :D

    Hope y'all had a good time! :D

Well, I dunno! Granted, those who we call "The Pilgrims" did in fact come from England. But, as they were trying to escape a perceived oppression, would they really have considered themselves British still? Did they show any allegiance to the Crown?

Well, the origional thanksgiving was by a bunch who quite possibly did not consider themselves English*, but when it became a festival in 1676 most of the area was under our control.
The first time Thanksgiving was an official national event was in 1777, after Saratoga (so not British!! :D )

    * This is highly debateable. But anyway.
Ineteresting fact for the day - the Pilgrim fathers actually were travelling from Holland (where they had moved to from Britain), which they found 'ungodly'. Only about 1/3 of the passengers were actual 'seperatists', and they really failed to plan ahead. They brought effectively bog-all provisions (including no seed corn for next year), but lots & lots of shoes. Hmm... ;)

    As in
Man: "OMG we didn't pack any seeds, we're going to starve to death"
Woman: "Yes but at least my shoes go with my hat and skirt"
Been there, got the T shirt... :smok:

    <smiles sweetly>

Don't forget we are the weaker sex, we need big strong boys to sort out the important stuff because our simple brains can only cope with decisions about shoes and shopping. ;)

(Getting back to topic) I wonder who ordered the supplies for the voyage? Probably a man!
