There were 142 Canadian aces in WWII (an ace being a pilot who shot down five or more enemy aircraft). Thirty-two of these aces shot down ten or more aircraft. The top five aces were: "Screwball" George Beurling - 32 kills "Woody" Vernon Woodward - 21 kills Henry McLeod - 21 kills Mark Brown - 18.5 kills William McKnight - 16.5 kills
"Buzz" Beurling was quite a character. Here's a link to his wartime service and life after the war. http://www.constable.ca/beurling.htm
