Has anyone here played a World War II Video Game? I've played all of the Call of Duties, Medal of Honor: Frontline, and Medal of Honor: Rising Sun. Only MOH: Rising Sun was set in the Pacific.
I've played Call of Duty, which was not too bad as a game even though it was beyond horrible from a historical perspective. I lack the words to describe its inaccuracy.
i played MOH allied assault, spearhead, breakthrough and pacific assault Cal of duty 1, expantion pack, and 2 and then there's also codename panzer and silent hunter (1 and 3)
Silent Hunter (1-3) Janes WW2 fighters Il2, Il2: forgotten battles Battlefield 1942 (Secret Weapons and Road to Rome expansions) Pacific Fighters I can't remember any of the others
and how about armor: panzer general I,II,III panzer 44 pacific general panzer commander and the famous steel panthers
ive played cod and medal of honor and panzer elite..who cares if they are historically inaccurate they are games and just a bit of fun for cryin out loud!
How inaccurate was COD? Anyways, I heard a lot of bad media for Medal of Honor: Rising Sun. I didn't think it was all to bad. Oh, funny story. As I was playing multiplayer online in Call of Duty 2: The Big Red One for the PS2, I go to a map, and I thought it had the Tiger II in it. Then, I noticed some edges on the bottom of the turret that belongs to the panzer 4. Then I look at the rest of the tank, and it was a Panzer IV!! I can't believe I thought it was a Tiger II. See, it didn't have the armor apron, but it did have the bigger gun on it, along with angled armor on the turret. It tricked me. I thought they would have put the apron on it like they did in Call of Duty: United Offensive. oh well.
WW2 video games I've played MOH Frontline and MOH European Assult(I own this game) and i love these games cause the kinda show what it was like during the war. Private Mic von Krate
I havent got any WW2 games, but i do have the game called "Operation Flashpoint" which is about the Cold War 'heating up'... Essentially you fight as either NATO or the USSR during the mid 1980's, it seems quite realistic Guess who i play as
That is an excellent game smeghead. Playing for the Russians is fun, but the sights on the Ak47/PKM are rather terrible and take some getting use to. If I may ask, do you own this game for computer or Xbox?
I guess we could talk about Cold War stuff, but not too much, kay? Anyways, I just got a game for the PS2 called Secret Weapons Over Normandy. Its a Flight Sim in World War II. I have flown the ME Komet, 262 jet fighter, and the 109. I like the 262 best of all, then comes the P-51 mustang. The P-40 was Cool. The JU-87 Sucked as a fighter, but you can dive to here that siren of it. The Stuka by the way. I also flew the JU-87. I saw the 6 engine JU-390, and the Diamler-Benz Profect C Flying Aircraft Carrier. Here's a pic: And here's the JU-390. They say it flew to New York once for a test flight: No, I don't own that model, but I wish I did.
Hi Zhukov! you're absolutely right, the sights look very strange for the russian weapons, more like a dinner fork than an AK I own the PC-version of the game (don't have an Xbox) and only the original verison with the American campaign. I have been passively looking for the Russian expansion but sadly, cannot seem to find it
Just as an aside, that is slightly incorrect (Most versions of that story have it flying to within a certain distance of the US coast), but also is almost certainly a myth.
Smeg, the Russian campaign isn't all that great. I mean, you switch sides half way through! Your Russian soldier has some sort of epiphany and decides he should from now on fight Russia. It is rather weak, if you ask me. A much better expansion to Operation Flashpoint is Resistance. Here you get to fight as a countryman whose land has been invaded by the Russians. You must collect ammo, weapons, tanks, and other vehicles throughout the missions so that you and your men will have something to fight with. It is no fun when a pair of T-80s covered by some infantry and a Mi-24 approach your position and all you have is a hunting rifle. Check out www.opflashpoint.org for a bunch of different addons and mods. One of my favourites was playing as the Russians during the Soviet-Afghan war. These are all free to download and only require an updated version of Operation Flashpoint, the upgrade being free too. I recommend the addon that allows you to use a T-90, as it is a very fun toy.
Damn... Really? When will these game-designers make something for the gamer who enjoys being the bad-guy, screw liberty and freedom, I'd rather fight for subjugation and oppression thanks for the link Zhukov, i've always been interested in the Soviet-Afghan War... and I didn't know there was going to be a flashpoint two! looks like I'll need a computer upgrade though
i find SH 3 awesome. i love the event camera's where you can see the torpedo's slamming in on the merchant/warship. a nice way to relax from a hard day, sink some merchants and get a medal for it.
I play Steel Panthers. Have played Blitzkrieg (terrible) Call of Duty (beyond terrible) and Battlefield 1942 (words fail me). Historical accuracy is important for me. Battle 1942 WITH the Forgotten Hope mod is great though.
Heroes of the Pacific is an excellent WWII aircraft game. Naturally, your story beings at Pearl Harbor, and ends at Iwo Jima (no Okinawa :-? ). The gameplay is tremoundously exciting because of the sheer number of Japanese aircraft (and even a German pilot in a Me262) leading to some quite large dogfights. The variety of fighters, torpedo planes, dive bombers, and bombers is staggering; the Hellcat, Shinden, H8K "Emily", Seafire Mk. VII, FW 190c, and a B-25 Mitchell are but to name a few .
