What is your favourite type of tank from WW2 and what job would you want on the tank you choose.

    You tell me,

Wouldn't mind commanding an IS 3 during mopping-up operations in Manchuria (if they ever participated in those battles, that is).

King Tiger because of it's thick armor and powerful gun. But not really reliable. The Pershing's reliable, but it's armor (101mm max) just isn't thick enough for me :-?. Maybe the JS-II. It has a good gun (122mm), a good armor max. (160mm), and was definetly more reliable than a King Tiger. Or the Tiger I. 88mm gun, 14 tons lighter than it's cousin (which makes it more reliable), and thick armor. It'd be a toss-off between the Tiger I and the JS-II.

A Stug III or other, not likely to catch as much hell as the average heavy tank or MBT and much more easily hidden, moved and maintained as well.

I agree on the Panther. Not quite as nice as an Aston Martin DB9 but I'd be more than happy to have one parked on the drive. I'm not sure her indoors would be too happy about it though!

The Tiger or the Panther, for the sole reason that they look cool

I'd liked to be in a Jadgpanther.Formidable heavy SPG with low silouette and very well balanced characteristics.Could counter any Allied tank.

I don't care, as long as the armour is thick enough to allow me to survive a hit by an 88.

great, you also get to hide in bushes all day from air attacks, hide in bushes all night ambushing shermans and in between you search for fuel and spare parts so that you can move your tecnological wonder to another bush closer to the ruins of Berlin.

Frankly a Mark 1 would be more fun as at least you are winning and going forward.

It would have to be either a Mark IV or Matlilda/Grant in North Africa

    Fun.

How can you describe fighting in a tank as fun?

    To FNG:
No matter the tank, if you are German and the years pass, you will move closer and closer to Berlin(Or to Budapest!)

it's all relative, as in more fun than hiding in a bush awaiting the inevitable

and besides in 39, 40 and 41 Germany never thought they would be beaten and without hindsight from us or precognition from them you could well believe it.

Frankly you would never get me in a tank under battle conditions and I would not join the army unless conscipted. Not becuase I have no sense of duty or nationalisim, but because the idea of sitting in a pool of mud whilst people shoot at you holds no interest for me.

Besides soldiers die in war and often painfully.
