You wouldn't see me climbing around on tanks without prior permission.

 

I've been in Leopard 2A4, Bmp1,Bmp2 and in T-34-85

 

I was in a C2 leopard tank.

If we count APC's , I've been in a M113

 

I see the Leopard is pretty popular...

 

Personally, i've been inside a Chaufee, in two APCs ( one of the 60s-can't recall its name-and a M3 if i remember well) as well as in a M8 Greyhound.

 

i must be one of the lucky ones i have been in a running jagdpanther 2xstug III's a T34 and also loads of halftracks

the T34 was at Beltring war and peace show so was the JP as were the halftracks

i was at a national scout jamboree as a team that let the scouts try scuba diving and the army had their display next door to our pools. a little trading [swimming for rides] got me a short ride in both a bradly afv and an abrams. i also got to sit in the drivers and gunners seats and even got the play with the turret controls and use the sights. in a word awsome!

I've been riding in turret of M-84 (improved Yugoslav T-72) couple of times. When 46.OKMB (armoured mechanised battalion) celebrated their hollyday, they would also have joyrides for civilians at their poligon. I was also in T-55 (a month or so ago), T-34/85, Sherman, Praga twin 40mm AA gun (i was alloved to traverse the guns).

If you are from Banja Luka you have to know that in one of the barracks there is impressive collection of tanks and AFV's. There are few rare and/or historicaly important pieces like T-34/76 (captured from germans near Trst), BA-64 (captured from Chekessian unit fighting on Axis side), late SdKfz-251 with PAK-40, SU-76M, M3A1 Stuart.....
Artillery firing range Manjača also has some interesting wheicles and guns displayed.

 

Are you refering to the ones displayed near the conscription center?

Yep, i refer to those...
I cannot stand this complex of most people ,in the local municipal council, who cannot stand seeing tanks because "they remind dark periods of Greek history..."(refering to the 7 years of dictatorship during 1967-1974).
Far better to had them painted pink instead of removing them!

 

This was not an M8 for certain. Neither do I remember it's type though! :-?
Also I feel I have to say this...
They removed them because they were vandalised by children, junkies and far so many people; :evil: so they couldn't have painted them pink instead of keeping them in a safer place (they would then be vandals themselves...), although they will have sold them for junk by now!

 

You have a good point about the reason they removed(and this was surely one of the reasons they are away...) indeed. However, the proposal i stated in my previous post helped too-how difficult was to lock the doors of the park at night?

 

Well, my personal opinion is that according to the mayor's "forget past evil things" politics, they removed them in order not to remember the glorious moments our country met during 1967-1974. (Jounta or the Greek government's bondage by the military).

40 years ago when tanks were not so popular I ask bovington if Icould look inside their tiger 1,and was told I would need permission from the goverment in london, I had a reply saying yes I could,but they advised me not to as the tank had not been open for many years and would be full of dust ect:.
I took my letter to bovington and at that time the museum always shut for lunch so I waited to lunch time and was left alone with the tiger for over an hour[ they also allowed me into the jagdtiger and panther] wonderful day that I have never forgot
