I was checking the U-boat symbols and noticed that U-370 had the similar symbol which is used for the Karelian area. Unfortunately did not find any clues in the net or my books, so hoping someone knows about this. Was the boat linked somehow to karelia and Finland, or is this just a coincidence?

U 370 operated in the Gulf of Finland through most of her combat patrols. U 370 also put in to Helsinki on 3 August to 9 August 1944.

Area of operations most likely dictated the boat's crest.

    I hope this helps.
