some people only seem to think that we only get our information in the west from the US media (CNN etc.) but they are very much wrong, I can see CNN, but why should I when I can see news on danish TV in danish? so I dont have to watch it on CNN to see the iranian president openly declere that Isreal should be wipe out from the map
And I'm always surprised that you think we actually believe everything the Media tells us  To use your own example of CNN and their mistranslastion - guess what, they got caught (which you freely state) which means (suprise suprise) that they are actually accountable, and that when they report something blatantly incorrect as fact (rather than opinion) they do get caught out. Opinion is a whole different kettle of fish, anybody can give any opinion on anything - different spins on news is why we have so many different media outlets. People either only watch/read/listen to what they want (partisan idiots ) or they use a variety of sources.
....tiso is no doubt correct ,there is a giant conspirecy among all the free world media to make out leader of iran to be some kinda radical bomb throwing lunatic who longs for armagedon..iwe all know its true that most media types are reactionary conservatives who mis quote the iranian leader on purpose so they can start another middle east war , and thereby have lots of news stories again.......this iranian leader is actually an old hippy peacenik who used to sell thai dye t shirts at grateful dead concerts .his real name is bob bytchan and he is from long beach ca ..he wouldnt hurt a fly , and see ..he doesnt speak farsi very well himself and thats why we get lottsa confusion ,that and lottsa acid flash backs from 1968...ps ,his beard is actually white ,he uses hair dye so as to fool the young chicks in the discos of tehran...
Sorry. I was just reading Woody's and Griegs posts. BWAHAHA.   I realy don't think i should answer to this one
Roumor is that Iran purichase SS-NX-26 Yakhonts and sunburn anty ship missiles, what r,curently 10y infront US tecnology. When Russia realized that they cannot match bigg US nawy, they redirect research in anotther direction-anty-ship missiles.By all i sow, that can sink half US fleet in 2 days,so it is great distraction weapon for US,and dont forget, oil. If anotther war in mid east start,Oil prices will go sky high, what is not good for any economy in world including the EU allys.
Who needs missiles? The US fleet could easily be sunk by well aimed AK-47 fire. *grieg watches obvious flame bait troll past* *grieg is not hungry and turns away from bait* *grieg swims away laughing*
Off course. You can't do that with M-16 and it's measly small caliber bullet. R-800 Yakhont has up to 160 miles range (depends on flight patern). This meand that Iranians could basicly cover entire gulf with number of batteries on their coast. Interesting Aussie article (pdf): http://www.ausairpower.net/ascms.pdf It gives you the missiles spec's, carriers and possibilities, possible countermesures and concludes that aussies are basily in deep shit if they would interfere into Chinese and/or Indias bussines even with new AEGIS and Kidd ships.
In favor of Tiso , there was a bit of a synchronised war drum in the anglo media , loose talk about " PRE-ENPTIVE NUCLEAR STRIKES " what is going on , that kind of talk is enought for any red blooded iranian to go mad It's sold as a wink wink ,we really are bluffing , kind of move ..is it ?? this coming from a president who having put 130,000 assets on the table while holding an obviously busted flush , raise by 20,000 more ! keep this man out of vegas what I'm scared of is of a stuff up by over eager local commanders , with big balls and little brains , like an iranian civilian plane shot down by the navy ?? an iranian revolutionary guard taking a missile shot to an U.S.destroyer and getting lucky !! in the grand sweep of history , there is a little of conspiracy and a great amount of idiots . .
You're wrong then, the only missile that sank British ships in the Falklands was the French air-launched Exocet. It was used to sink HMS Sheffield and the Atlantic Conveyor, as a not unvalid point too, for some reason that has never been entirely explained Sheffields air defences (Which may have been able to destroy the missile in the air) were apparently turned off.
in 1987, during the Iran-Iraq war, the USS Stark was nearly cut in half by a pair of Exocets while on patrol in the Persian Gulf. On that occasion US Aegis radar picked up the incoming Iraqi fighter (a French-made Mirage), and tracked its approach to within 50 miles. The radar also "saw" the Iraqi plane turn about and return to its base. But radar never detected the pilot launch his weapons. The sea-skimming Exocets came smoking in under radar and were only sighted by human eyes moments before they ripped into the Stark, crippling the ship and killing 37 US sailors.
Is´nt the situation in Iran much more complicated then we think? Like for example the current wargames are not exercised by the Iranian army but by the Revoltionary Guard. As far a I know there are many power centres in Iran, you have the clerics who control some sort of armed forces, the official army, Revolutionary Guard, the border "police" forces and a number of smaller armed units. If I am correctly informed Ahmedinejad relies on the IRG and the armed forces under the control of the clerics. If the US attacks I think it would mean that those different powers will most likely unite just as they did when Iraq invaded Iran. About the Mujaheddin e Khalq it is interesting to know that their base was in Iraq near the Iranian border. Apart from one news item about a clash between MEK and the US forces in the afthermath of their invasion I haven´t heard or seen anything about their disarmement or disbanding. MEK was tool for Iraq, perhaps now for the US. It would not be surprising. Does anyone have more and perhaps better info on the MEK and about the internal political situation in Iran? Kind regards,
About MEK. Iran demanded their inclusion on terrorist organistains list. US decided against that. AFAIK Revolutionary guard is under direct control of Khamnei and not under Ahmedinajad who is nominal commander of other armed forces.
Interesting and horrifiing reading: THE REDIRECTION by SEYMOUR M. HERSH Is the Administration’s new policy benefitting our enemies in the war on terrorism? http://www.newyorker.com/printables/fact/070305fa_fact_hersh

Is it just me or have these IED's been targeted by the media a bit too much? One gets the impression that IED's have tipped the war in Iraq's favour, they receive so much coverage on the news as if they are causing massive amouts of casualties... At a time when America is preparing to leave Iraq for good, it seems like these simple devices single hadedly scared off uncle sam... Have IED's really made that much of a difference? Their role might just be being exaggerated in a similar way that the Stinger was in 1989... Sounds like BS to me
