I guessed at the number of tubes on a Sherman rocket launcher, and couldn't remember how that Tiger allowed itself to get captured.

I think David is right about the question with the Pz III, though!

But only until the war in Europe ended - Matildas remained in service until the end of WW II.

Thanks to Brian, I am reminded that the British had an experimental SP not named after a member of the British clergy. She is the Alecto named after one of the Furies of Greek mythology.

Okey its not Panzer III cause I guessed that and was wrong. I donno why the British would keep a Matilda in service considering it was armed with just 1 machine gun, definitely not the T-34 nor the Sherman. So what hell is the answer?

It was the Matilda I think.

They were certainly in France in 1940 and it would not surprise me that they were still being made in 45 as the Brits had a tendency to make stuff not becuase it was good, but becuase it was easier.

Besides they shipped a lot of their junk off to Russia and the Pacific war.

The Matilda II is the tank in question & it had a 2Pdr as well!

 

I am aware of the Matilda II but the question says Matilda. It would be like say Panzerkampfwagen VIE(Tiger) when you ment Panzerkampfwagen VI B (King Tiger). I remain convinced the question as worded is flawed.
