    The question has to do with the movie starring Michael Cain and Sean Connery. Near the end of the movie where Connery's character is one the rope bridge and realizes there is no escape, he starts singing a song. What is the name of the song?

    In my case, its not so much "hit the notes" as "give them a scare as they go by" :D

    I am a die-hard Kipling fan and (apart from the c**p disney version of the Jungle Books), enjoy most films of the master's works :D. TMWWBK is excellent, very close to the story (the advantage of making a film of a 50 page short story rather than a whole book)

    For me at least, "that song" will not go away for weeks after I hear it. I found it in an old hymn book but didnt know the name of the tune until I was discussing it on another forum a few years ago. I don't think it was the original tune but it is very suitable.

    Kipling

    My favourite is the 'Norman and Saxon' poem.

    Woad

    Hello Ossie, do you know the 'Woad' song to the tune of 'Men of Harlech'?

    "The Woad Song"
    What's the use of wearing braces,
    Vests and pants and boots with laces,
    Spats and hats you buy in places,
    Down on Bromley Road.?
    What's the use of shirts of cotton.
    Studs that always get forgotten,
    These affairs are simply rotten,
    Better far is Woad.
    Woad's the stuff to show men,
    Woad to scare your foemen;
    Boil it to a brilliant blue,
    And rub it on your back and your abdomen,
    Ancient Briton never hit on
    Anything as good as Woad to fit on,
    Neck, or knees, or where you sit on,
    Tailors, you be blowed.

    Romans came across the Channel,
    All dressed up in tin and flannel,
    Half a pint of Woad per man'll,
    Dress us more than these.
    Saxon, you can keep your stitches,
    Building beds for bugs in britches,
    We have Woad to clothe us, which is
    Not a nest for fleas.
    Romans, keep your armours;
    Saxons your pyjamas;
    Hairy coats were made for goats,
    Gorillas, yaks, retriever dogs and Llamas.
    March on Snowdon with your Woad on,
    Never mind if you get rained or snow'd on,
    Never need a button sewed on,
    Go it, Ancient Brits."
