I'm not quite sure what i use, but i use the stuff in a spraypaint can. just as long as it is suitable for wargaming. :bang:
does it matter what types of paint I use (acrylics) or is it pretty much universal. Also have u ever tried tamiya's clear coat... im just being careful cuz i havent clear coated any of my models yet and dont want to wreck any of them.
Your best bet may well be to choose a model you can afford to sacrifice, and clearcoat it. With what you're using, I doubt it will damage the model, but until you see it yourself, you won't know for sure. Clearcoating won't wreck the models, but the vision in your mind, and what actually turns out might be slightly different.
I've used the Testors flat and gloss clear coats on everything under the sun.The only time I had any kind of problem was when some hand-painted unit markings started to run a bit. This was due to a heavy coat, but still wasn't that bad.
i use the clear coat to protect the decals and to give the models a matt finish but use it lightly, and allow it to dry before give a second coat
I just use Humbrol Matt Varnish. It does need very very thorough stirring first, and it does turn the model a shade darker then it was to begin with.
Well i just dull coated my olderish T-34 and im glad i started on it. I used testers 1260 dull coat and well it was going good. But then you see i didnt realise at the time I had to becareful I didnt touch anything that i coated. long story, short I have two finger streak under the front on the hull... not a total disaster but it still sucks.
well, still very good of you to have tried. A lesson for the future! I'm also thinking about learning how to apply dullcoating, so this thread may become quite useful...
If you can operate a can of spray paint, you can dullcoat.Incredibly, the clerk at my local hobby shop said guys come in to the store and ask how to use spray paint. He also said a lot of people are truly surprised when they find out you have to build and paint a kit yourself.WTF is the world coming to?
hahah! Stupid! I have been wondering some times why it says "plastic model assembly kit". Apparently, people really can't figure out themselves...
