    Hi

    Where can i search for info, on an Faroese man, who lived in Canada, during the war, and had to go to europe to fight against the german? Is the any Canadien archieves where i can go?

    He´s name was Peter Hansen, born in 1904.
    The 19th August 1942, he was set into North France, i think the town is called Dieppe, with about 6000 men, about 5000 canadien.
    Have anyone heard about this opration? Please tell me about it.

    Later i foght , south of Rome, and was wounded, and was sendt to Catania in Sicili. If anyone know about these Canadiens fighting south of Rome in 1943, please tell me.

    I haven´t read very much about the allies´part of the war. Mostly about the Germans on the Eastfront.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks;
    Sverri

    If you look back in the Canada forums there is a Dieppe forum, and do you know what battalion he is in? that will work well. If he went to Italy, he should have been in 5th Armoured or 1st infintry Division, Neither major in Dieppe, most troops came from the 2nd Division.
    Canadians were quite influencial in Italy, there is a forum somewhere, North Africa Mediteranian are or in Canada? They fought in most major battles.

    I would not be the guy to know, but search Yahoo for Canadian Military Archives.
