Sorry to hear this, it's terrible for the aircraft but even more so for the pilot's family.

i love seeing the old warbirds fly ..on the other hand ,every year some of them crash and they are irreplaceble and givin the current rate of destruction the day will come when they are all gone ..should rare warbirds be exposed to destruction by flying them ?..they were dangerous and unforgiveing when they were brand new and now they are 60 years old...

It's a constant argument: should they be kept static or should they actually be flown so that people can see how they looked in the air?

Seriously, wouldn't you rather hear the growl of a Merlin overhead at 300 knots than look at something sat in a museum?

If they're going to remain static then why not just have replicas - who'd know the difference if they're well made?

Now that is a terrible shame - mainly because there are just few Hurricanes about. Talling of which, I read on an Italian armed forces forum recently that a member has postulated that most Italian fighter aircraft could fly rings around the Hurricane. Anyone care to comment ?

Ofcoarse every aircraft should and could fly rings around a hurricane even hurricanes can do that...nothing special has to do with flight controls i guess
