Passing stricter gun control laws has always been a ploy by governments to make the citizens "feel" safer without actually requiring the government to really do anything about crime. They then go around taking the newly outlawed guns from the law abiding owners but do absolutely nothing to stop the criminals who are using the guns first place.

It's doesn't matter about working guns, these guns are DE-ACTIVATED as in they don't work. If you see what they have done to my Bren Gun, SMLE and the M1911 it is just not plausible to re-activate them, it would simply be cheaper to import/buy one of the black market illegally.

but the ban just isn't plausible, they know roughly how many de-acts there are in the UK as de-acts post 1988 were usually (if not all) were sent to proof houses where there records are kept, but to buy or sell them, you do not require any form of paper work, so the government simply don't know where any of these de-activated guns are.

Knowing this government, they will make it a crime for the "Registered Keeper" of the deactivated weapon not to know who it has been passed on to.

Oh, I forgot, they save that for really serious offenders... like motorists

the only gun law in the usa to show any impact on violent crime is the liberalizeing of the concealed carrie permit .making it easier for ordinary people to carrie concealed guns .this new "luck of the draw ", problem makes the habitual predatory criminal much more skittish and less confident .

in any us citys where it been implemated l , MORE GUNS =LESS CRIME

a question for any brit; what would it cost you to puchase a berreta ,colt ,browning ,ect handgun on the black market , do you know anyone who has ever done it? what happens if you get caught with one ?

I believe around £400, so around $800 US.

    Not telling.

IIRC you face a sentence of up to 10 years in jail for illegally possessing a firearm, more if it can be proven that you intended to use it.

    I believe its now 15 years +
    but don't count on it.
There are also rumours of people renting guns of the black market so the £400 cost (i thought it was lower than that) isn't too daunting if yu can rent it for a short time

You may well be right, I got the 10 year figure (With mandatory minimums for some cases depending on what you're caught with of either 3 or 6 years) from the CPS website, but to be fair it was a rather lengthy document and I may well have missed the 15 year figure. Either way, with the current anti-gun/knife atmosphere politically int he UK you're not likely to get a lenient sentence.

It's worth pointing out too that you can be prosecuted under the same laws for carrying air weapons and "realistic immitations" too.

As for the price, you may well be right on that one too, that's just the number I've heard from people who know people, I've neither the inclinition nor contacts to go checking that thoroughly myself.

Out of interest Woody, why did you ask?

I cannot agree with u. When Serbia prohibited to any non police/military person carry a weapon, number of killing was droped greatly. It is highly related with temper of ppl of this region.

Amendment II to the Constitution of the United States reads:

A well regulated milita being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to have and bear arms shall not be infringed.

I still have difficulty understanding how this is interpreted to mean guns for all with no governement "regualtion".

The militia is the 'body of the people' and the 'people' are quite simply the people. You can't call up the militia in an emergency unless they are armed unless you just want to use them lieu of sandbags.
Furthermore, the term 'militia" is codified in US law as:

    • Organized militia – consisting of State militia forces; notably, the National Guard and Naval Militia.[9] (Note: the National Guard is not to be confused with the National Guard of the United States.)
    • Unorganized militia – composing the Reserve Militia: every able-bodied man of at least 17 and under 45 years of age, not a member of the National Guard or Naval Militia.[10]
Note they use organized and unorganized, which refers to training. The older term 'regulated" meant armed, not subject to monthly drill.

Furthermore, every man who ever served in any branch, no matter their age, is subject to recall into the militia, so even the 45 year old limit is meaningless for about half the population. And note further, these groups are under the control of the individual states, not the federal government. The federalist papers (which clarify such things) makes clear that one of the duties of the militia is to overthrow the federal government should it become autocratic or exceed its powers.

As far as I know that is not true. According to their gun laws you can own and carry a gun, but the gun must be "safe", it can't be immediately ready to use.
According to this in 2016 there were 996.501 legally owned guns in Serbia, and maybe up to a million illegal guns.

But Serbia is a may-issue country, with a capricious and arbitrary permit system, it's probably a matter of time before all gun rights will be denied to the Serbs, as it happened almost everywhere in Europe.

The only shall issue countries in Europe today are Czech Republic and Estonia as far as I know.
There are 800.000 legally own guns in Czech Republic, the number of gun related crimes is about 40 per year.
They are very proud of their gun rights there, and see them as a symbol of liberty after years of Nazi and Communist oppression.

I have this collection of Lugers carefully modified to pass the newest UK de-reg codes. Shall we start the bidding?

The "militia" was the National Guard of its day, not just everybody with a gun. The Constitution is supposed to be changed by the will of the people, not the profit motive of the gun industry.

In the time that was written, the term militia meant "peoples army", in other words, the populace. The intention behind this was to make sure there was a counter to a federal army. Some have tried to tie the term militia to the National Guard, but that came around in 1903. As far as government regulation, it make little sense to let those who you are to act as a balance to make the rules.

Try to watch some youtube gun enthusiast channels like: hickok45, Iraqveteran8888, 22plinkster, nutnfancy, forgotten weapons and you will see that it is not the gun industry, but the Americans. That the NRA, the gun industry are slaves to the American people - not the other way round.
Most of the NRA money comes from the "little people", the everyday Americans, not the gun industry.
