    At last.

You are now viewing the WWII Forums using the new XenForo software being sent from an entirely new server. Here what to expect and what to do if you have any problems.

    New XenForo Software
The new XenForo software is in use. I'm sure there will be a learning curve for many users, but once you get the hang of things it will prove superior to what we had previously. Feel free to message me with questions, and I'll do what I can to help.

    Two Safe Harbor Forum Imports
During the move to the new server & software, we imported not one but two WWII discussion board databases For now we will be keeping the posts in their own separate locations, and in time we will sort the posts into the relevant section of the site. The two sites now available are the TanksinWorldWar2 forum (122,000+ posts), and the War44 forum (7,500+ posts). Yesterday, we had just over 673,000 posts, and today we have over 802,000 posts available, this represents a 19% increase in the amount of relevant post content.

    Forum Restructuring
Get used to things changing. Forums will move, be renamed and get merged. Since we don't know how long the restructuring will take, it just makes sense to give members access to the site while we work.

    Site Template & Graphics
We've already given the WWII forums logo an overhaul, but there is plenty to do in terms of color scheme, layout, fonts, etc. While you will have full functionality, the site will be morphing into a version that will look better than the raw form it is in now.

    Patrons - Thank You!
Thanks to all the generous patrons, you made this possible and I will always be grateful for your help. I'll be making an indicator in your profiles to reflect your status.

    Need Help?
Please feel free to email me at the address in my signature if you need anything. I'm happy to help!

Aren't they terrible? This is the default template, only the logo has been changed so far. Working on a new look now.

Thanks, I'm pleased we made it through successfully. In fact, you were a member of War44.com, and your posts are now here and attached to your current profile.

As an middle-aged, aspiring curmudgeon who hates change, I must say I am handling this reasonably well...

    Sonuvab$^#%!!!

    Okay. I'm better now.

That's news to me formerjughead. Lots of setting were imported from the previous sites by an import tool, and there was nothing done in terms of mapping permission from one site to another. Bear with me for a bit and I'll get things sorted. I'm working on a few server admin functions that need attention right now.

Looks great Otto. Especially considering 3/4 of my posts are using my mobile. Very pleasing to the eye.

Being reminded just how much better the XF mobile view is than the old IPB one.

    Try the search, people.
    This one... works.
You'd think that'd be the case on all forum software, but apparently not.

What is news to you?........that my posts are invisible until they have moderator approval? It actually kind of feels like old times; you mean I am not in the "cooler"?

Apologies Lou, your relegation to the rank and file is temporary. :D After the move, I didn't have access to anything my self once I logged in. We have three sets of permissions from three sites all mashed together, so I'm wiping the slate clean and starting fresh.

Done. It's a bit large though, do you mind if I resize it?
