Great, I'm in to Kumagaya AB for obvious reasons. They bombed the crap out of it before the 1st Cav slapped a new name on it.Bombing of Kumagaya in World War II - Wikipedia This site has some cool stuff too.Kamikaze Images Thanks for the film list. I'll check them out. J.I.F. Kumagaya Flight Training/Kamikazi Air Base to Camp Whittington to JDF Kumagaya Air Base to modern day. etc etc,
Honestly I can't say. The documentaries, the short film, and 'Okinawa' are titles I don't have, and others I haven't watched yet. I have only watched Away All Boats, The Eternal Zero, and Yamato so far and of those I'll put Yamato first, primarely because it is for the most part based on actual events.
No. There are two recent releases by that name, one was Russian, the other was South Korean. The Japanese film you might be thinking of is "Isoroku"(Rengō Kantai Shirei Chōkan: Yamamoto Isoroku – Taiheiyō Sensō Nanajūnenme no Shinjitsu)
That is correct. The Russian film 'Admiral' is a WWI film from 2008 whereas the the South Korean 'The Admiral' (Myeong-ryang) from 2014 is a film about a historical naval battle.
There's a 1956 film "Battlestations" that starred Richard Boone and William Bendix that was based upon the U.S.S. Franklin that was really good.
My understanding is that it isn't available on commercial DVD. There are some places that sell rare war films that have it but the quality is not always what it should be. There are several sites that have it available for streaming, but I don't know the details.
Agree with you about those site selling ripped films on DVDR. Most of the titles for sale are actually worse than poor. I have got my fingers burned more than once unfortunately.
