My name is Christian. I prefer to be called Christian. My parents are responsible for the name. I am 32 years old. My interest in WWII goes back as far as I can remember. My grandfather served in the Pacific Theatre. I am from Erie, PA. My primary interest is in reconnecting/updating my grandfather on the history of his war buddies. I graduated from Geneva College with a degree in History, so I pretty much enjoy reading, writing, and exploring answers to tough questions. I created a Facebook photo album that I would like to share with as many people as possible. The photos are of my grandfather and some of his buddies. I have the names of most of the men, but I am looking to confirm their identities. If you would like me to share this album with you, please contact me! I would appreciate all the help I can get! Thanks! You can find the album here, too: Log into Facebook | Facebook Thanks!
Welcome Christian, I sent a message to your Facebook page that you might find helpful. Get every bit of information that you can from your grandfather, even the stuff you may think doesn't pertain because it might be the information you need to make a piece fit. Good luck with your quest.
Welcome to the site Christian! I'm very familiar with Erie, PA, having spent some time there, enough to have visited the gun-shaped Millcreek Mall. I strongly recommend starting a thread here and posting your inquiries, and then subscribe to the thread. Facebook is good for traffic but it doesn't serve well as an archive. I cannot count the number of time an inquiry has been posted here that get activity every few years when someone runs a google search for the same topic.
Thank you so much everyone! As for information, my grandfather served in the 8th Army, 9th Corps, 82nd Signal Battalion, Company B. I have been able to round up a few names, but I am still trying to find a roster of some sort.
Welcome Christian. Otto's suggestion is a good one. Post the inquiry in thread and let time be your ally.
Hi Christian. Welcome to the forum. It's always heartening to find someone with your kind of interest. I'll echo the others in saying that it would be good to put your information here and check it regularly,
Welcome. I went through the Erie area on the train last summer, it's a very interesting section of Pennsylvania. I had no idea there were vineyards there, for one thing. One of my heroes was from Erie--Eddie Allen, one of America's greatest police chiefs.
