    Hi all,
A relative has an old ww2 aircraft hangar and across the foeld is the remains of a twin gunners bunker.
After getting my first detector i started searching about 3 metres away from this and found an unknown object about 12 inces down...
Can anyone say what it is, i assume it is some type of gun mount, but it is completley different to the existing tri-pod type mounts still in the bunker. I was wondering if there would of been a much larger gun next to the bunker?
    Thank you in advance...

    Welcome Ninja99!

Nice find. I can imagine a gun going through that opening, but I'm not familiar enough with large calibers guns and their constituent parts to ID the item.

This thread makes me want review the metal detecting section of the site. We used to have a lively metal detecting group here, certainly worth reviving.

    Welcome to the forums!
Can you post pictures of the bunker too? Might help in identifying that object.
