    All,

Hi, my name is Brett, and I'm a WW 2 history buff. By day, I'm an editor, mostly of books pertaining to nature (think field guides to Rocks of MN, etc.)

At work, I recently had the pleasure of working on something different. A while back, we published a book about Little Minnesota--tiny towns with around 100 people. As it happens, many of those places contributed a disproportionate amount to the war effort in World War 2.

To tell these stories, our author (not me!) collected more than 140 stories of men who died overseas in WW 2, and telling each of their stories. Where they were from, where they served, what happened to them, as well as including vintage photos, letters home, and more. It's called Little Minnesota in World War II, and it's a heck of a book.

As you'd expect, they served and died everywhere from Pearl Harbor until after the dropping of the A-Bomb. I'm sharing information about the book here not because I have anything to gain, but because it's a damn important book, and I figured you might be interested in the concept. (Full disclosure: I don't get royalties or anything from it. I just worked on it, and it took a ton of work, so I'm pleased as punch about it.)

Please let me know if this isn't the right place to share this; I couldn't find a book-related forum.

I recently heard of this book on Facebook. I got a "Page Not Found" message from Amazon when I tried your link.
Here's a link to the book on Amazon: Little Minnesota in World War II.

There is a section for posting books & such. Perhaps a Mod will be able to move this post for you.

By the way, my two great uncles (see below) were brothers from a small town. However, with a population of about 500, it was far too big for them to have made the book! ;)

G'day Brett and welcome to the forums...
Ive travelled around eastern Australia many times and theres one thing that continually hits a visitor to the many small towns in NSW and Victoria and thats the memorials in every town...they are HUGE! A small town, yet hundreds of names...too much sacrifice IMO...

You should have added these to the Small Town Veterans Memorials #1 thread. :)

Thanks for letting me know about this. We're working on expanding the series to cover other states, and we're also branching out to other conflicts (Korea, Vietnam, WW1, etc.), so I'll definitely tell our authors to check that thread out. Thanks!
