Hi! I’m Spicy (nickname since I was in Pampers) from Michigan. My Dad and I have been working on our family tree for a few years. After we binge watched a handful of Ken Burns mini series during Easter weekend, we have been on a military ancestors hunt.

We visited the National Archives in St. Louis this past summer and learned a few WWII Official Military Personnel Files we requested were ruined in the 1973 fire. The final pay cards weren’t much help and didn’t list their military unit. I’m hoping to learn more about their Army and Air Corps service but need to know what unit there were in. I’m sure this question has been asked a million times so I better get to reading some forum posts but wanted to say Hi!

    Have a great weekend :)

If you are talking about WWII, most men and women filed a copy of their separation papers at their local city hall/ courthouse when they returned home. The separation papers will give the last unit they were with...any campaigns, etc. if you give us names and birthdays, some people here are good about finding info. Happy hunting!

Spicy, If you have any photos of the relatives in their service uniforms, post them. We might can glean something from their insignia.
