G'day I have had my fathers records for some time and have been having difficulty in understanding them and some of the abbreviations used. I know that he was in the intelligence corps but units and other things I don't. If I downloaded the page/s would someone in the know be able to interpret them for me thanks in advance.

Thanks CAC, I'll upload somepages, much appreciated . I have had to make these smaller as they are too large, even in PDF probably due to the poor copying adding to it so I hope you can follow it OK.

Thanks CAC, some of the entries have
    1. "Marched on strength" I don't know what that is.
    2. The "118th RMT coy" is this CMF or where does it belong
    3. The "106th RMT coy"
    4. The entry 31/08/42. I don't understand.
    5. I haven't been able to find anything about the 32 Aust coy asc 08/09/42 bottom of first page
    page 2
    1. 02/01/42 What is the first Aust Army NCO school
    2. HQ New Guinea Force I haven't been able to place where my father was situated within this group
    3. 05/08/43 I can't make anything of this or 22/03/44
I think that is plenty for now I don't want to bog you down with to much stuff. I keep searching through things when I read it but don't get to much info, I might be entering the wrong words for a good search engine response.
Thanks again for offering to have a squizz for me

RMT? All I can think of is Realistic Military Training..?
Don’t know marched on strength...maybe the full company, but I doubt it.
Unless someone else pipes up, I would go to the Australian War Memorial site and type in what you have...or even send them an email asking for translation. Sorry I couldn’t be more help mate.

If you have more questions go ahead and ask them. Sometimes a question will point to the answer to another question. Also if you find the answers elsewhere PLS keep us informed. Odds are someone else will have the same question.

I believe that ‘Marched on Strength’ indicates the day he was recognised as being a member of the unit, or arrived at the unit. It is similar to the British ‘Taken on Strength’ or T.O.S. Also a variation of the note March In. The actual entry reads: Marched in. Taken on Strength.

RMT is remount as in Remount Unit.

Some additional abbreviations etc. can be explained looking at Military Abbreviations & Acronyms, Australia & NZ.

31.8.42: Entrained for Q(ueensland) Lines of Communication Area.

Thanks for having a look at this for me Mark as you said it often leads to more questions. I do know he was involved with some military training or the like before he was old enough to join. Thanks for the links as well.
