Happy Feast of Saint Patrick Day - 2018

My wife takes Holidays very seriously. She is especially eager to exploit them to create activities that will occupy & engross our four year old son. This weekend she told Ottavio about the lore of good leprechauns, and their propensity to explore the end of the rainbow, only with a twist. Rather than taking gold, she informed him that good leprechauns like to leave treats at the end of rainbows. Hearing this, my son immediately got to work creating clouds and a rainbow to lure these creatures, eagerly awaiting his treasure. As the day progressed, he became more concerned with bad leprechauns and their shenanigans. His solution was to closely guard his rainbow against any unwelcome interlopers. My wife snapped this photo and sent it to me while I was out on an errand.



He made an obviously good choice of weapons in the form of the mp40. Leprechauns are usually engaged at close range and the control-ability of this weapon is useful with such small targets. What I'm most impressed with here is his unprompted trigger discipline, even with a dart gun he is employing the proper safety technique.

 

I see he takes guard duty seriously.

How'd he make out treasure wise ?

 

He earned an assortment of chocolate coins, and some markers for his next craft project. Rachel is keen to offer incentive for honourable service.

 

I'm sincerely proud of the little man, I wasn't there when the photo was taken, so the trigger discipline was of his own accord.
