Putting together a display for a friend who wants to put it in his high school trophy display. It was a friend he graduated with who was killed in action in Nam after serving only two months there. I don't have access to his DD-214 so don't know what's listed. Think I have everything else pretty well down. His memorial only has the PH listed so there was no BS, SS, etc. The question I have is whether he is entitled to the Good Conduct Medal. It shows Three years, or one year in combat. He went to Nam after his second eight and was killed two months after getting there, so didn't have his year in.
This is also a a medal that must be submitted by the CO, unlike a campaign medal that is automatic with time served in country. Any thoughts on this? Thanks for any help.
