It would be helpful to know what type of information you are trying to find.

So far, all I can tell you is that he was from Camden New Jersey. He enlisted in 1940 and was KIA 1945.
Looks like this is his tombstone in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania.

I take it Ben and Al were brothers? Dates don't make much sense otherwise.

    45 Infantry Division had three Regts - 157, 179 and 180.

Not sure where you got 175 from.

    Regards

He enlisted 16 September 1940 in Camden, New Jersey.

He is listed in the 157th Adjutant's Notebook as a PVT when he was killed.

Curiously, I did not find his CIB in my regimental general orders.

Lucchini is not listed in the 3 January 1944 roster of L Company.

So we do not know when he was assigned to the 157th.

I am researching my grandfather who was also in the 157th A company. Is there any way to determine what battalion he was in? Thank you for all on the great information that you all provide.

I know that this has nothing to do with the company make up of infantry battalions of what is being talked about here, in parachute battalions, A,B & C were in 1st Bn, D, E & F were in 2nd Bn, and G, H & I were in 3rd Bn. There we no weapons companies in parachute battalions, but battalion and regimental commanders had authorization to group the weapons platoons in each company together into an ad hoc weapons company if the situation allowed for it. Just thought that I'd add that. Carry on....

Thanks for the info everyone. In some of the AARs that I was reading they would simply refer to the battalion rather than the company so it helps to know which one he was in. Harold Cassell PFC 157th company A. Landed in France and fought through to Munich when the war ended. Bronze star recipient. He never talked about the war so I've been trying to find out as much info as possible on my own.

I found PFC Harold H. Cassell in the 29 June 1945 Division Roster.

He did indeed belong to A Company.

Yes I have his IDPF. says he was KIA by shellfire in the vicinity of Contwig (Q772722) I do show that he was listed in a AT Company but also show as Co L cant find info on awards or decorations CIB, Purple Heart etc. I'm research this for his sister who is still alive. She wanted to know if she could get a replacement of his Purple Heart that was lost in a fire in their home that killed her and Benjamin's father and destroyed all of their records. Ironically this happened during the time they were tring to get his remains returned to the US. Was a bit puzzled by the rank too.
