Named for the future British prime minister, Winston Parker Churchill of Okotoks, Alberta joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, served as a Wireless Air Gunner in a Wellington bomber, was shot down on his unlucky thirteenth mission, and spent the rest of the war in a German prison camp.
