Hello everyone, I found this uniform at my local antique mall. I`m pretty sure its WWII but the 1st sergeant patches make me a little uneasy. I looked inside the sleeve and you can see the previous stitching from what I think was a sergeant patch. What I think is that this soldier served in both WWII and Korea. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks.
It has buckles on the side and the inside tag is dated June 9, 1944. I also know that they used WW2 uniform jackets in Korea.
The 1st. Sgt. rank is 1955 colour. Are the unit citiation and ribbon bars pin back or clutch back? The C.I.B.? Rich A. in Pa.
They are all clutch back including the C.I.B. The C.I.B. is also sterling silver and one clutch for that is sterling. Since it is a later patch does it affect the value?
The campaign ribbon appears to be an EAME with a silver star. My guess is WWII and he stayed in during the Korea era but didn't go there, otherwise he would have a Korean and UN ribbons.
Don't know much from a collectors point of view, but if I were looking for a WWII uniform I would think it was a plus. The thing that I'm puzzled about is the lack of hash marks. His rank and campaigns would indicate at least one and probably two.
I have a picture of my great great uncle in his dress uniform with his medals and insignia but, for some reason, he did not put his rank patches on. So could it be possible he just did not put the hashes on?
