    Workers of the World, Unite!
A HOI 4 USSR AAR - Visual Mods Only

    Stalin.jpg
Joseph Stalin. Leader of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Puppet.

Stalin is but a figurehead, an avatar for the people to Unite behind until their true leader returns from exile. My agents within the Armed Forces and the Government seek to not only undermine Stalin, but to control from within, directing the USSR down a path towards Glory, letting him believe he is making the decisions while in truth it is my agents, the Trotskyites, who are really in control. They are paving the way for my rightful return from Exile while bettering the country in doing so.

Agents abroad have reported growing tensions across the globe - a Spanish Rebellion is soon to be launched in an attempt to spread Communism throughout Spain. In china, Communism is on the rise but Japanese aggression threatens to derail it all!

The USSR will be there through it all, lending a guiding hand to all those who support Communism and wish to usher in a new era! Works of the World, Unite!

There is nothing more fitting then a Revolution to spread global Communism! Of course, Fascist's starting the revolution is not what is generally expected, but this what happened in April of 1936. The Germans were the first to send volunteers and the might Russia quickly followed, sending 5 Tank Divisions under *** to Spain. Not only that, but Russia also decided to send half - 50% - of its monthly production of Small Arms AND Artillery as lend-lease, to supply Republican forces. The Italians also sent volunteers to the Nationalist Spanish forces. Rebellious Forces occupied most of the Western side of the country along with parts of the North and East, cutting off Republican forces that maintained a stronghold in the North.

Ten days after the arrival of the Russian Tanks, they had managed to push a hole through Nationalist Lines, linking up with Republican Forces in the North of the country while pocketing all Nationalist Forces to the East - cut off from supplies and ports, the Nationalists only had the Mountains to aid them in their defense. A Division of Nazi Tanks put up a defense of Zaragosa and were soon cut off, completely surrounded on all sides. Within a month, they too were wiped out.

With the Eastern half of the country, Soviet Tanks moved to the West, in the Northern reaches of Spain. There they encountered Italian troops, fresh from the Italian victory in Ethiopia in late July. Of course, Soviet Tanks were not Ethiopians! Even in the face of being cut off, the Soviet Tanks managed to slice through the Italians. This resulted in the North West of the country being cut off from the Western forces that held up against the Portuguse Border by mid-August.

German success against Soviet Tanks was still a figment of the imagination. The Division of the two sectors saw Motorized German Troops cut off, surrounded, and annihilated once more by Soviet Tanks. The Route was on, Nationalist forces fleeing south towards Gibraltar. Out of supply and foreign help, the Nationalists were forced to surrender during the first week of October.

A Communist Victory was celebrated throughout Soviet Russia and Republican Spain - these two great Countries, coming together to defeat the Fascist Threat! General Rokossovsky, Commander of Soviet Forces in Spain, returned from his successful Campaign two weeks later. His rest will be limited, however, as trouble has begun to brew in China and Mother Russia can not sit by while Imperialist Japan, our much hated Pacific Neighbor, threatens to expand!

    A Year in Review

But what of Russia itself? I have revealed my agents running the country while I remain in Exile. The worlds attention was focused on Spain during most of 1936 and the stunning Communist Victory there. My agents in the Military performed extraordinarily well! But the state of the Soviet Union leaves much to be desired. We have just over 1 Million men serving in the Army, but our technology - industrious and military - leaves much to be desired. Much of our equipment is from the Great Revolution. However, at the stroke of the year, I have learned that we have upgraded our Tank technology from T-26 variants to BT-7s. I have directed our researches to start development towards the T-34 as soon as possible - it is an impressive tank by all reports but is still a few years away from production!

Our Airforce is no better off - if not worse. We currently have Polikarpov I-16's as our only fighter. Development of the Lavochkin-Gorbunov-Gudkov LaGG-3 is still someways off and I want to make it our main fighter, to control Soviet Skies! I have also decided on Close Air support as our main offensive Aircraft, though this is even further off. I am hoping to make the IL-2 Sturmovik the main CAS Aircraft.

Our Engineering and Industry technologies, however, are given the priority right now. There are massive factory and infrastructure projects going on through the country, to bring the industrial might of the USSR on par with the rest of the world! Our main small arms and artillery (along with anti-tank guns) are hurting because of this, even with the recent expansion of our science labs!

And the Russian Navy? I have decided that the Russian Navy will only be developed in later years, once we can ensure dominance on land! The capacity of Russia has not reached a point where building a dominant Navy is practical. The British, the Japanese, and even the Americans are all ocean-going powers and we can not hope to match them in any near time-frame.

At the same time, we are also recruiting new Divisions. They are mostly Infantry-based, until we establish Medium Tanks, and are meant for a purely defensive purpose. The Russian borders are large and many men are needed to ensure its safety.
