Hey, as i said in my introduction i live in Normandy. This forum is the opportunity to share with you the pictures i take when i move around. I will post pictures of very well known place of course but also much less known. Museum, D-Day parade etc... Last June, i went back to the famous "Pointe du Hoc" The weather wasn't very good but it was probably close to the weather on the 6th June 1944 when the Rangers landed and climbed the cliff. I hope you will enjoy, and sorry pictures were taken with my cell phone Cédric
Fantastic photos Cédric. I really enjoy seeing these. I'd love to get a close-up of the 2nd Ranger Bn. image. It would be nice to add these names to our repository at WW2|ORG.
Not just Texans at Pointe-Du-Hoc. Here is the result of some research I did at our National Archives. It is story about a couple of logistics corps drivers who did far more than their bit. You will see that the medal recommendations are based on Colonel Rudder's report and signed by Montgomery. They deserve to be better known as there is no mention of them in Normandy and nor names on any brass plaques anywhere.
Hey guys! It's time for me to update this topic with the 75th D-Day anniversary! As happens every year it's the time here to celebrate the anniversary of the D-Day and of the battle of Normandy. This 6/02, there was a nice event near Carentan with some Tanks of The Armored Tank museum of Saumur.
