....barely a peep from the press about it. Where is the concern and or lack of outrage in the world press? What will New Zealand ban now?

Barely a peep? Front page of every news site for two days. I'm curious as to where you live.

I'm in Louisiana. Not nearly the coverage of the Massacre in New Zealand. Sure, all situations as these are terrible, but some seem to always get more sensational in depth coverage than others.

Watered down news for the most part. "Religious extremists" most likely responsible. Nothing about possible "Muslim participation" in the incidents.

I found out about it via this thread. The Christchurch attack I heard about a few minutes after it happened on my phone, it was a Google suggested search.

I really hate talking about stuff like this, but this being Easter and the perceived (by me) slighting of the incident by the major media just sort of worked me wrong. Sorry gents, I'm not trying to get all political and or extremist here, just bothered by it all.

My phone “pinged” with the news this morning. So very sorry, especially on Easter.

Here in the US we have Dozens af 24 hour tv "news" stations and hundreds if radio stations streaming news all day. I'm a news hound with 50 newsfeeds bookmarked. I guess that some Christians would ask WWJD? Some Christians would pray, other Christians have AK15 Jesus tattoos and await the next Crusade. I lean towards the prayer spectrum of religious zealotry. From what I read, the island has more than a few zealots of several different religious persuasions. In other news, the IRA is at it again.

    Only if you redefine "peep."

It's been top of the page in bold black headlines on CNN's webpage within hours of it happening. All other major news sites around the world are the same. It's been big news since it occurred.

President Trump even tweeted 138 million dead...it stayed up for 20 minutes before being corrected.

Not sure why you are feeling slighted by the worldwide coverage of this incident.

The news site I use had it as the 'front page' news for an hour or two, then went back to something about Trump as the headline for the rest of the day.

There is certainly a double standard when it comes to reporting things IMHO. I think Media are scared of 'offending' a certain group with coverage given their usually violent response to being offended.

    Really?

Then why is the media updating their stories...National Thowheeth Jama'ath a radical Sri Lankan Islamist group is now being implicated in the attacks.

Curious that they would do so if they were afraid of "offending" a "certain group".

I suppose the problem is it's reported differently.

The reaction of some to the devastating Islamist-inspired terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday is puzzling to say the least.
Following the mosque massacres in Christchurch, political figures across the Western world did not hesitate in accurately describing what they were – white-supremacist terrorist attacks on Muslims in their places of worship during Friday prayers.

In the aftermath of Christchurch, Hillary Clinton expressed her solidarity with the global Muslim community – the Ummah – and said ‘we must continue to fight the perpetuation and normalization of Islamophobia and racism in all its forms’.
Former US president Barack Obama tweeted that himself and his wife Michelle were grieving with the people of New Zealand and the ‘Muslim community’. Our own prime minister, Theresa May, correctly labeled Christchurch as a ‘horrifying terrorist attack’.

Now, contrast this with the language used by the same three figures following the coordinated series of Islamist-inspired terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka.
Affectionate expressions of solidarity with persecuted Christian communities have been missing.
The Christians killed in their own churches have been referred to by Clinton and Obama as ‘Easter worshippers’. Despite the clearly sophisticated, well-planned nature of the terrorist attacks, which very much had the aim of killing a large number of Christians, the British PM – a vicar’s daughter – referred to them as ‘acts of violence’.

Maybe they DON'T want to start a religious war based on no information. Or maybe someone does. The terrorists want that. Should they get what they want?

The English version of Al Jazeera actually has a pretty good reputation. From what I've heard the Arab language version isn't as "neutral".
