..and a near-identical Canco box in worse condition ( rusty lid, missing gasket, loose hinge ) sold on UK e-bay this morning after 11 bids - for £50. Which gave me a warm feeling ! :)

    Hey guys,

I just picked up this nice wool jacket from the son of a 20th Armored Division Veteran. He was nice enough to provide me with a photo of his Dad along with his basic information. It turns out he actually served in my Dad's battalion which was a bonus for me.

    Thanks,
    James

I get the ammo boxes at my local Army surplus store. Sometimes they have them and sometimes not. They are usually in good condition for $20.00. I keep some shotgun shells in mine. I am happy that you got yourself one for that price.

Martin Bull,That is way to much money for a can. The only cans I buy are the "foot latch" cans for the M.G..

Too true ! But it's a good indication of the way in which UK militaria prices are getting 'sillier' - all the time...o_O

Found this small document at Flea Market mixed in with some other military items. I just had it framed and put behind protective UV glass to preserve.

This document came with an original patch "The Beechcraft Busy Bee" designed by Walt Disney. The award was for efficiency and as the motto says "Kill ' em with production".

Looking back at this now, I see that Tamiya made the tank and ERTL the artillery unit. Tamiya has always been one of my favorite model makers and I suppose the unit by ERTL is rather old. I have diecast tractor models, John Deere, by ERTL but I never heard of them making model kits.

    Hey Guys,

I picked up this Ike uniform a few days ago. It was pretty dusty with quite a few moth holes. Everything on it seems solid and a bonus was finding the attached documents folded up in one of the pockets in the jacket. The serial numbers on the docs match the laundry codes on the jacket and shirt, but not the pants though which had a couple of different codes. The Two DIs on the jacket are screw back Christian Lauers and the one on the cap is a pin back with what appears to say Heidelberger Fahnenfabrik.

It belonged to T/5 Lloyd Duane "L. D." Heinbaugh who served in Battery C of the 16th Armored Field Artillery Battalion, 9th Armored Division,1st Army. The 16th AFA was relieved from their assignment with the 9th AD on July 6th 1945 and then inactivated later that month on July 26th. The DUC was for the Remagen Bridgehead.

    Thanks!
    James
