Sir, Further to your history referneces. Please see the following, just out of curiosity. The Uncle Joe Falcons
Dear All: On the 8th and 9th of May, we observe our V-E Day, respectively. This is our value shared in common which we shall not privatize. Therefore, I would like to communicate appreciation to all our dads, grand-dads and great grand-dads, our moms, grand-moms and great grand-moms for doing their best including ultimate sacrifice so that to make our celebration today possible. My Ukrainian uncle Leonid had fought his way from Stalingrad to a German town of Eisenach to meet with a GI whose name he never remembered except that they got drunk together knowing that they made it, that they survived the bloodbath and that soon they’d be going home. May God hold them in the palm of his hand.
Last quotes: “We, the German Führer and Chancellor and the British Prime Minister, have had a further meeting today and are agreed in recognizing that the question of Anglo-German relations is of the first importance for the two countries and for Europe. We regard the agreement signed last night and the Anglo-German Naval Agreement as Symbolic of the desire of our two peoples never to go to war with one another again. We are resolved that the method of consultation shall be the method adopted to deal with any other questions that may concern our two countries.” “Be glad in your hearts. Give thanks to your God. People of Britain, your children are safe. Your husbands and your sons will not march to war Peace is a victory for all mankind. If we must have a victor, let us choose Chamberlain. For the Prime Minister's conquests are mighty and enduring - millions of happy homes and hearts relieved of their burden. To him the laurels. And now let us go back to our own affairs. We have had enough of those menaces, conjured up from the Continent to confuse us.” Editorial in the Daily Express (30th September) http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/2WWmunich.htm Немецкий и польский пограничник на железнодорожном мосту в городе Богумин - фото | Военный альбом 1941-1945 Friendly border guards on the borders of what used to be Czechoslovakia. Since you are giving quotes from the Naval treaty along with some pictures lets not forget: Google Image Result for https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/c9/Molotov_with_Ribbentrop.jpg/220px-Molotov_with_Ribbentrop.jpg The above is a link to some pictures on google of as much relevance as the German British naval treaty.
Sir, this is part of history. We have never seen or heard from our respective records keepers any formal confirmation or denial thereof. Britain's Foreign Office "pre-1939 period records" have never been made available to researchers. France did release its Blue Book going public with its Foreign Office correspondence, but again, that was a string of letters from their Embassy in Berlin, only. In my opinion, the Munich Deal was that very ugly Chicken laying its rotten eggs to hatch more monsters (in part related to whatever followed next), just as Winston Churchill described the subsequent developments. Therefore, how does this remember V-E Day? V-E Day is another page written by Her Majesty, THE HISTORY. History writers don't make history, they "fight their war of words" from the "desktop trenches." We shall remember our V-E Day as much as we shall remember 2 September Day. There is something more to that: Soviet–Japanese Border Wars The Soviet - Japanese border wars in 1938 and 1939. Check the dates: timed with Soviet Union's failure to reach an Anti-Nazi Agreement with France and Britain (3-month abortive talks held in Moscow from May-June through mid-August, 1939) and when Germany made an offer in August 1939 exactly at the time when the Soviet forces were engaged in fierce battles with the Japanese forces in the East. A threat of an unwelcome TWO-FRONT WAR: with Nazi Germany in the West, and Japan in the East was too obvious. Overnight, the adamantly anti-Nazi Germany position of the Soviet Union (ever since 1933 and especially so during Spanish Civil War) transformed into that of alliance and friendship. All Things were going haywire across the world; therefore, I'd rather hold my horses lest I get bogged down in a situation: THERE ARE TWO OPINIONS, ONE WHICH IS MINE AND THE OTHER ONE WHICH IS WRONG. Apologies for the litany of words or verbiage......if anything. Soviet-Japanese Border War | Easytech Fan Community
It is interesting and I think noteworthy that you post the following: Now it's pretty clear that Western governments in general were caught by surprise by the German occupation of Czechoslovakia and furthermore Britain and France both needed more time to rearm. So we find you harping on events such as the German British Naval treaty or the somewhat more questionable Munich compromise while completely ignoring the fact that the Soviets allied with the Germans to split Poland the act that arguably touched off WW2. Then you may a pretty lame attempt to excuse it with: Except of course it was hardly a war the forces involved were pretty minor and the likelihood of it getting much worse was pretty low. There's also the problem that Germany and the USSR didn't have much of a common border did they? It's not at all clear to me what you are trying to say here. It can beread as a claim to omniscience but I'm not sure that's what you intended.
Gents, it's been my pleasure discussing the issues of days bygone with you; thanks for your feedback and thoughts, and your time, above all. I will be "out of my office for the next 4- 8 (?) weeks with limited access to my emails," I will focus my efforts on some exotic What Ifs, and probably, will share some of them to invite avalanche of your critique and sharp-pointed questions and answers.... My apologies for my bursting in, uninvited, and dropping out….
Don't apologize for dropping in. The admins sill correct me if I'm wrong but there's a pretty open invitation to all here. Don't be surprised however if you post something controversial if it raises some controversy. There's also a pretty clear play the post not the poster ethic so PLS keep that in mind. It will be interesting to see what you have to say when you return.
Adding more fuel to the "fire" of discussions: WWII. The USSR versus Nazi Germany 22 June 1941–9 May 1945 Includes casualty assessment analysis, statistics, war numbers....
Thanks for the controversy vs. controversy response tip, it's a good point. I am working on a particular controversial topic which may raise multiple controversies in response. Skipping the details, I came across something extremely unusual or controversial--as I found it--and which promted my responses. Here is one, though it is an old one, nevertheless it is still valid. In part, it will make, probably, a section of a WHAT IF story intended to raise bomb-shell controversies. The Evils of War in Retrospect
I notice all the links are to Medium.com. Looked them up and they seem to be the internet equivalent of the editorial page in a news paper. Am I way off base or ...?
Sir, Medium.com. provides a platform to post a story. Therefore, I wouldn't identify it as an internet newspaper. To me, it's an opportunity to post and edit my posts and that includes links for communication with friends as well. They have multiple topics for different people to post their stories in accordance with their preferences. As a child, I never played toy guns, we would dug them out in what used to be the battlefield trenches. Hence is my WWII history drive.
Sir, I am off today, and will, hopefully, be back at my desk next month. Concerning your answer to my question, "WHICH COMES FIRST, THE CHICKEN OR THE EGG?", I can only quote from one of my American friends cracking an old as the hills anecdote: "Two 3Q activists were making plans for the coming day. Junior member said, "What if we go out to catch and lynch a couple of "Ns" tied up to a tree?". Lead member responded, in so many words, "It's a good idea, but what if they catch us in the process and have us hanging from the same tree?" Junior member replied, "Why should they? It's against the law!" In my words, What is the Subject and What is the Object in accordance with Neocon party lines of what you identify as the "Western Governments?" Are you going to question Winston Churchil? I think he said enough to make it clear about "The Ugly Chichen laying the Rotten Eggs." Apologies for a verbiage. We'll continue the discussion on June 22, I hope. I know your Uncle Joe story, and I have an idea about fitting it into the framework of controvercies raising more controversies. It will take some time to formulate my RETHINKING THE UNTHINKABLE....
???????????????? Not at all sure what the point of that rather incoherent post was. I will note it was close to if not over the line with respects to politics determination would have been a bit easier with more coherence..
Dosen't clear things up, but only muddies the waters, nor are they limited to any one particular side. These stories are a dime a dozen for any war. I've read a good many similar ones from the American Civil War, WW1, and WW2.
