It's been awhile, but yes Chinese warships have occasionally docked at Pearl.

Chinese warships have participated in a couple of the biennial RIMPAC naval exercises, although they were disinvited from the latest (2018) one. RIMPAC can involve 50 or more ships from 20 or more nations, all of which moor in Pearl Harbor, must be quite a sight!

It appears that the Chinese have concluded that Rex Tillerson, Trump's first Secretary of State, was correct in his assessment of his old boss. Sorry mate.

The south seas must have some well armed drug movers. Anti air and torpedo needed to win.

    What was his assessment?

Rex Tillerson is an oil man from a our rough and tumble west. Rose to become CEO of Exxon He was quoted as saying his boss was a f**king moron and when asked, he did not deny saying that. Having heard that word used in business meetings myself, I believe he said it and feel his assessment is spot on.

No offence to the American public. I see and hear so many very intelligent people, from America...You mob are truly decent and switched on, it annoys me you are being represented by a bottom feeding grub.

    What's that word I am looking for...Oh, yes...Bollocks!
Huh! 11 years ago, it was doing the mostly the same darn thing. In December, 2008, China sent three of it's PLAN vessels, 2 DDGs and an AOR to the Gulf of Aden to conduct anti-piracy patrols. To date, China has conducted 31 escort missions, escorted some 6,595 ships and come to the aid of over 60 ships.

I find it unfathomable, how this analyst has totally forgotten these Chinese escort missions.

The rest of the article seems about as nonsensical.

Please, feel free to offend the American public. We say in our Constitution that we are a government of and by the people. Dope slaps have been earned and are deserved IMO. If Germany had the internet to use for propaganda as Trump did we would be goose stepping to work. My own son fell under the spell.

I think a message was being sent in the form of its anti submarine capability...given our strategy for stopping a country like China invading would be long range strike aircraft and anti shipping submarines...the anti air and anti submarine weapons would not go unnoticed.

The first article I read about this said that Australian had sent warships to China and this was a reciprocal visit, The only strange aspect was no notice being sent to the Australian people.

I welcome the visit..."You keep your friends close and your enemies closer"...(Sun Tzu? : )
I don't consider China our enemy just to be clear. We have benefitted from each other for many decades, and I hope that continues. Ive always said that old Australia was built on the backs of the Irish and Chinese, who have been living in Australia almost as long as its existed.
People keep finding Chinese coins here in the NT...hundreds of years old...They knew about Australia long before England did. I don't see the Chinese as strangers or new comers.

The Type 054A is comparable to contemporary warships in other navies. It would only be news to people who are unaware that China can build modern warships.
