Interesting they are going with the (Super) Hornet instead of the F-22 or 35...? Maybe the Airforce said "ummm...nup" to letting Hollywood anywhere near the new stuff...
As a fan of the old movie, I am looking forward to this...Im sure Poppy can't wait.

Ermmmm....The US Navy does not have or use F-22s.

As to the F-35, it was probably too new, as in not entering service until after filming had already begun. Although, a film crew was filming deck operations on the USS Abraham Lincoln at roughly the same time as the VFA-125 was beginning their operations aboard the same carrier, so maybe some F-35s may make the final cut.

I'm thinking along the lines it will either be great or will suck a fat one the size of four pregnant watermelons...There won't be an inbetween.

Still, I'd go see it in IMAX just for the expected flight scenes.

Yeah I think it depends on what one expects...its not and has never been a serious aircraft movie...its "Gone in 60 seconds" - in the air.
Actually Vin Diesel should be in it too...Wanna see Val Kilmer looking OOOoooooldd...poor bloke has throat cancer.
I though this was the first Cruise movie where he actually looks his age...OOOooooldd...Is Tom Skerret still alive? Probably too old to look like he is still serving...?

Tom Skerritt and James Tolkan are in their mid to late 80s.

Altough everybody is wondering who is in the casket in the trailer.

Like the original, it should be a a fine case of eye candy.

Not unlike the original; when it was made, the Navy's "new stuff" was the F-18, which entered squadron service in 1983.

Turns out just as well; it would be a bit odd for the 2019 film to feature the same fighters as the 1986. Most people in the audience won't distinguish a Super Hornet from a Hornet.

I wasn't able to play the trailer; did it show what they used for bad guys?

Good question...not Talons...they showed a 14 at the end...could have been the bad guy or just a blast from the past...

Entered service, but didn't deploy until mid-85. Also, it was not a pure fighter like the F-14.

Given that the Chinese are partially financing the movie, you can count them out.

I start my expectations at zero. That way I have an excuse to sit through the whole thing if I want.

Well I hope he doesn't have to eject. Either TC has no shoulders or he can't figure out how to wear a torso harness.I also thought that most Navy helmets were now taped in white reflective tape.

The Top Gun III plot has been leaked. Maverick is now retired and flying coach between two fat guys on his way from Topeka to Fargo. He ate the fish and now urgently has to use the restroom, but the fat guy next to the aisle is asleep.
