hello I am new to the forum but I am looking for any information over the 84th infantry, especially over the 325th field artillery. I have been doing some research over my great grandfather private Russell Otha Bradley who died in December of 44’ somewhere in the Rhineland north of Aachen along the Siegfried line. I have recently completed some research over his war metals and found out he was awarded the silver star so back in June I got in touch with my local congressman to receive his award citation giving my family some relief over what happened to him overseas. When my great grandfather died he had a 6 month old son he never got to meet. We really don’t know much about my great grandfather Iam just looking for any information or photos of either the 84th or camp howze Texas where he was trained at Thank you

Have you requested his IDPF? That should give all the answers you need. Burial case file (later called the Individual Deceased Personnel File or IDPF). Burial case files from 1915-1976 are in the custody of the National Archives at St. Louis, ATTN: RL-SL, P.O. Box 38757, St. Louis, MO 63138-1002. I have contacted them but they keep saying the files were lost in the fire. I have thought about contacting the Golden arrow but I don’t know how trustworthy their service is. What do y’all think I should do
You have probably requested his military personnel file, which was lost in the fire. His IDPF was not held by the National Archives when the fire occurred in 1977 and they were just recently passed to them from the Army records center at Fort Knox, which held them previously. An IDPF is an Individual Deceased Personnel File. It gives the details of his death as known and his original and any subsequent internment's. Golden Arrow is fine and reliable, but if you don't want to spend the money you can do it yourself.
