Look at this fella. I've been seeing him since I moved here five years ago. His shell was shattered by something... a car? And over the last several years it has filled in. Tough critters. I don't think a Tiger tank could take that damage and survive. .
Fortunately its a land critter...the same damage for a turtle would affect its buoyancy...Australia has started making 3D printed fill ins for turtles with shell damage.
And another roo attack...well, a touch up anyway...If the roos had been serious he'd be dead for sure. No cookies | NT News
Bears! Bears! Bears!...….bears. Bah Humbug. We've got scadzillions of the damn grizzlies here in western Wyoming. Very rarely is anyone hurt. The really dangerous animal in the woods are horses and mules! I've never had so much as a hair on my bod harmed by a bear, but horses... They've stepped on me, knocked be down, bit me, bucked me off, fell on me, and otherwise tried to do me harm. I don't know of anyone personally who has been hurt by a griz, but most of the serious horse and mule people I know have been hurt, many seriously, by their very own "domestic" stock. Honestly.
Can believe that...these things are mostly due to contact...one doesn't sidle up to a bear, let alone try to saddle them and hop on top! In the Territory the salt water crocodile (that lives quite happily in fresh water) will come to you... We’re for Sydney | Daily Telegraph I remember fishing down at Wildman river years ago and went to bed in my tent...woke up the next morning and found huge drag marks that circled my tent...
The Anchorage newspaper (ADN) keeps track of bear maulings like other papers follow the local sports team. At last count (about a month ago), there were twelve bear attacks resulting in two deaths in Alaska this year. We still have to get through October and November when they go into a pre-hibernation state called hyperphagia and get very aggressive. Coastal Alaska has about 1 grizzly per square mile and if you're out there hunting or trying to catch a few late silvers from the salmon run late in the year, you will see them and they will not be in a good mood. .
What a tortoise mauling might look like. My Elberta Queen peaches are coming in, and this tortoise threatened me until I gave him some.
yes, horses scare me. ..went on a backwoods trail ride with a "friendly " horse for 25 dollars. buddy just wanted to get back to the corral as quick as possible. smart horse. ...I get- cats and dogs. birds...but horses can kill you. that freaked me out, and the horse knew it.
Another reason not to live in the west. Couple punches, hits bear in their Jeffco kitchen during attack
