I have recently acquired a large (+400) collection of 35mm negatives taking during WWII by a German soldier.

This collection is taking some time to scan but I am gradually getting there. Will be upgrading this thread when more gets digitized.

It looks like Luftwaffe training. I was looking at the rifle they were using and it seems to be an old 1888 Commission Rifle. One would think "Der Dicke" could have gotten them a newer rifle!

Looks like a girbigsjager unit, possibly in training.

I am going to Mont Saint Michel, France on August 16th.

A number of photos from this collection were also taken there. I would like to take modern color photos in exactly the same angle and magnification. But for this I need quite precise coordinates for some.

Could anyone try to find this one?

The Album with Saint Michel photos.

    What standouts:

Some of that last set look reversed, with the eagle on the wrong side and turned around. Otherwise I really like these shots. Great slice of life.

    Thank you!

My trip was a success. While I could not find every location (Such as the garden scenes, pity) I was able to find plenty others.

Including the main street scene, stairs, places inside the building and some overall views of Mont Saint Michel.

When I have the time I will be messing about on several ideas how best to present these...
