I turned 80 in January and for reasons I cannot understand, I am buried in work! , no pun intended. But ran across this discovery of a Catalina in an Irish lake and thought it interesting.: Experts Scouring An Irish Lake With Sonar Discovered The Lost Wreck Of A WWII Seaplane Just been terribly busy designing houses, renovations, and additions. I would love to find a young partner and they could have the business in a few years but it seems like finding a good mate is difficult. Low tide here in Darwin showed some drums in two lines gong up the beach...It was me who suggested they were once filled with petrol and used as lights for the Catalinas...don't know if I'm right.

Welcome back, hope to see you around the forums more often. Hope that you can find some help too. Maybe you should get a couple of Mexicans. They really do work a lot. A friend of mine that has a lawn treatment business says they want to work too much, like 18 hours a day, 8 days a week and such. You can get a lot of drawing done with a crew like that.

 

The European version of Mexicans would be Germans...even the Brits are increasingly getting them to come over and do jobs...they work much quicker than anyone else. German efficiency is still alive...having said that, I don't know how easy it is now after Brexit.

 

80 is the new 60. expect to see you around for many moons.

.....especially if you take care of yourself..my dad was over 80 and playing softball as a pinch runner!! speeding on the highways--I was afraid to drive with him....still doing pull ups.....going out to more places than I did ...he ate what he wanted but in correct amounts..he worked out/etc ..walked the dog...got lots of sleep....he grew up in the Great Depression...he would walk for miles!!
..but the opposite is true also-don't work out/over eat/etc = bad for most people

 

Guys what a wonderful reception, I thought I might have been banned for being AWOL!!. In my excitement about work, I forgot that I am indeed 80! Can't see quite as well, back about done, and less energy has me overextended but feels good to be working. I was diagnosed with diabetes but lost 40 pounds, joined a gym and radically changed my diet and off the diabetic list and no meds for it. I really like what I do but am turning down new work until I get to a more satisfactory level. I have about outlived all my old contractor friends, really miss them but finding some new good but younger ones. I am extremely lucky to live in a booming area, many parts of the country are not doing as well. Our nomadic engineer daughter has moved to Idaho, a great place and got out to visit. She has a Tikka TSR 1 in 308 which we took shooting, great fun. Have been reading, currently about Arleigh Burke 43-45 and will report when finished. Bronk, not as lively as your dad but holding my own. Weighted this morning, 130, what I weighed in in 1970!!! Forgot, I have chromium-cobalt knees, should I allow for them?? . We can trace Blackwell males back to 1811, bunch of them, next oldest was 69! Cannot complain, Tommy!!!

Well, this time I can say I am still alive in spite of the virus! 8 confirmed cases in my area but then there is about 150,000 not sick so I think old me will live to work some more days. Off to ask a question on a naval forum here....................
