I suspect they prevent the virus from running amok and the body's own immune system provides the 'cure'.

Chloroquine seems to be used to suppress them immune system. One of the problems, ironically, with a CoV infection is that the body generates a massive immune response, which causes 'second order' problems. Chloroquine, the anti-malarial of choice here, seems to be used to attenuate that reaction. Strange, but clever.

No, actually I didn't know that...and Vegas and Illinois is kinda irrelevant to me in Washington State, where it turns out that actually, no, as of today in an agreement between the Tribes and Inslee they remain open. :D

If they close the bars here in Minnesota folks will revolt. Drinking is the only thing that gets them through the seven months of winter. It's even bigger than Hockey and Ice fishing. Come to think of it, hockey & ice fishing must include copious amounts of beer to be considered a true Northland tradition.
The thing is the vast majority of bars/taverns north of Minneapolis/St. Paul could only exceed a crowd of more than a couple dozen people if they offered free beer.
As for casinos, Only the Chippewa tribes are allowed to operate them and only on reservations. Be interesting to see what happens there.

If you are a gambler, the casinos at Ground Zero (King County Wa.) remain open. The stakes are high. You bet your life. Nutz.

Oh boy, now an American is involved in an International Incident.

Look I like Tom Hanks but Come on, you're in a foreign country for crying out loud, please respect their culture. Vegemite appears to be some kind of sacrosanct phenomenon, kinda' like our beef jerky, don't behave in a way that reinforces the arrogant American depiction.

    :D

Did Tom disrespect the Vegemite?

I like Vegemite. Have the remnants of a small jar in the cupboard right now. In addition to using it for toast, I'll throw a spoonful into soups and sauces.

There was something in a news headline he posted a picture of toast and Vegemite. The Australianites took offence at the over indulgence. Guess he had too much ???

I understand that Italy's hospital's are so overwhelmed that they've resorted to triage to sort out who should be allowed to be admitted to hospitals.

Nope, they warned him of the possible consequences of his Vegemite overindulgence...just good people looking out for a nice enough Yank.

We shall see. Some say the worst is yet to come then again influenzakills more people according to professionals. Many shops restaurants etc will face the end as only pharmacies and shops are allowed to be open. No WC Games and no Olympics.

You'll know it's bad when the stores have a run on Spam. On my last trip to town I noticed (like everyone else) that toilet paper and hand sanitizers were out of stock, but found it oddly reassuring that they were fully stocked with Spam in all its glorious new flavors. In fact all the canned goods were fully stocked.
If it comes to supply chains being disrupted in a serious way, the first thing you'll notice is that perishable foods will come into short supply. That's when when people will buy up all the Spam and canned ravioli, and then you'll know we're in real trouble.

If your vermouth is unrefrigerated and open, then its gone bad. No Manhattans for you! And I have a spare bottle of Woodford Reserve, so I'm ahead of you. :D

As we are in the high risk category we settled in with a case of wine, an oz of Gorilla Glue #4 and a 90 day supply of Viagra. Wine is holding up but I'm cutting the pills in half and need to make a run to the pot store.

My Stevens Little Scout is hanging on the wall to supply rabbit meat if it comes to that.
