    Was looking at pictures of his command car, and saw this...the driver looks a little shocked...Standing to attention and everything..."Is that a .50 cal in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?"

    That driver is probably thinking I have a bullseye on my helmet for a sniper.

    I'd note the one they're selling has a .30 cal MG and the one Patton is standing in, a .50 cal - good ole Ma Deuce. Were I to consider bidding, not that I would, I'd want to see about a foot tall stack of paper guaranteeing the authenticity, otherwise it is just a tricked-out command car. Kind of like turning a Tempest into a GTO.

    And Patton wasn't the owner, the US Army was the owner.

    The history that particular command car is unclear and I've yet to see any firm link to Patton. That command car has been attributed to Patton since at least the 1970s but it seems that the paper trail ends there.

    Found some additional info on my Air Force site:

    The car was put on sale in 2017 with a $60,000 reserve. It failed to meet that reserve at the time because the auction house did not have paperwork directly linking the car to General Patton.

    The claim of it being Patton’s rests primarily on the fact that the modifications mostly match the personalized modifications the general made to his personal transport.

    There are a few minor differences – the toolkit is different from the one Patton would have carried and a Browning M1919 A44.30 caliber machine gun is mounted to the passenger running board instead of the .50 caliber Patton’s car had during the war– but these could be changes from the renovations and restorations performed after the war.

    Sounds like there are some questionable details about the vehicle...documentation is the key for validity..interesting to see what happens.
